Chat Exercise
The Chat Exercise allows you to simulate conversations and is ideal for practicing role plays. This didactic technique facilitates the recreation of real situations, where your audience will apply their knowledge and skills in decision-making.
This exercise offers the possibility of integrating text, audio, images, and videos in the interactions, allowing the participant to choose answers.
You can upload your video files or use screen and webcam recording. In addition, both audio clips and videos, as well as their VTT subtitles can be generated automatically with Artificial Intelligence.
It is a self-training tool designed to consolidate learning. In addition, participants can repeat it as many times as they wish to reinforce key concepts.
Once the exercise has been completed, if you have included ABC-type interactions, a results window will be displayed showing the total number of correct answers the learner got on the first attempt. You can try as many times as you want, or simply close the exercise.
Configuration
Cover
You have the usual customization options:
- Color: Choose one of the template colors and set its opacity. In addition, you can choose any other color using the custom color configurator.
- Gradient: You can choose one of the gradients in the template and control its opacity and angle. In addition, you can choose any other gradient using the custom gradient configurator.
- Image: If you decide to use an image as the background of the face you will have the same configuration options as in the image element. See the related article for more information.
Description
You can add a text as a title or introductory text that will appear on the front page of the exercise.
Device background
You can add an image that will be the background of the device where the conversation simulation you are creating in the Chat exercise is shown.
User
Determine the name that you want the character that initiates the interactions of the conversation in the exercise to have.
Avatar
You can add an image that will be seen in front of the initial interactions of the conversation in the exercise.
Interactions
In the Chat exercise, you can add as many interactions as you need to appear during its playback.
The interactions you can include are of type Message or ABC, like the ABC exercise you already know.
- Message: you can enter text only or add audio, images, or video.
- ABC: you can enter possible answers and feedback depending on the answer. In the case of ABC, the answered questions receive immediate feedback on whether they are correct or incorrect. The answer chosen must be correct to continue the conversation.
Behavior
Depending on the cell size occupied by this interactive element, it can adopt two behaviors:
Direct execution: By clicking on the icon of the cover page the exercise starts on that same cell.
Launcher: If the cell that occupies the exercise is too small to perform the exercise comfortably, it will act as a launcher. This means that after clicking on the icon on the cover page, the exercise will stretch to occupy the entire slide. The user can return the exercise to its original size by clicking on the cross that appears after expanding.
In responsive mode (mobile) it always behaves in launcher mode to provide a more comfortable and immersive experience, regardless of how it is in its non-responsive version.
Once the exercise is completed, if you have included ABC interactions, a general feedback window will be displayed showing the total number of correct answers the student got on the first attempt.
Editing Tips
Once you have already added a message from a user, the easiest thing to do is to duplicate that message and edit it to keep the user details and avatar.
Editing the Completion Exercise in accessible mode
- Add an alternative text and a long description if they are relevant to your cover image in the chat exercise.
- You can assign a title by choosing from the different headings so that your students can identify the exercise. Please don't repeat this title in the project section.
- Add an alternative text and a long description if relevant to the images you include in the messages, as appropriate.
- Add a transcript when necessary. This text should be descriptive and you can make it more useful by formatting and adding captions, for example. You can learn more about it according to WCAG here.
